2.Observe or Participate?

Discussions about the duty of a photographer is complex. It changes by the place,time or the subject of the photo.

I also can not decide what are the responsibilities of a photographer. It gets philosophical. This is more complicated when it comes to the news-photographers. Because they are mostly facing with wars, riots, savages or so on. These risky position makes them to decide between observation or participitation.

When I thougth about this discussion, I remembered the little african kid and vultur; and how the photographar commited suicied a year after he took the photo and also got a pulitzer award by it. For more detail..

I'm sorry to add sorrowful pictures today, but these are the facts we also have to discuss about in my point of view...

1.The Photo from Spanish Civil War

When I was reading the artical about 'news photography', I started to google the highlighted photos in the article.

The one on the right was from Life Magazine (12 July 1937) -about spanish civil war- however I didn't clearly understand the part of the article which this photo is subjected.

I hope we will talk about it in class.
